You are Water so love it

Water and the connection to loving yourself. You are Water

Hello and welcome to the Sofa. I hope you are feeling good. Before sitting down with me to read, why not get yourself a glass of water!!

Some of you may wonder why I have connected loving yourself to drinking water. Well it’s simple really. If you understand the function of your body you understand a big part of you. Self love and getting to know who you really are has many different areas of understanding and the body is as important as all the others.

You have heard it for decades that humans are 70% water and without it we die. It’s like the ocean is the heart of the planet with the rivers and streams being the planets veins and arteries. Everything is connected and water is as important to your personal life cycle as it is for the planet. It’s all connected.

Of the 6 billion people on earth, 1.1 billion do not have access to safe, clean drinking water. 5000 people die a day with no water. (That’s a post for another day) Just knowing that made me realise the gift I have.

I found that getting to know you is about getting to know your mind, body and spirit. The whole of you. When I say body I don’t just mean externally by looking in the mirror, I mean understanding your internal organs and the complete functioning of the body. If we buy a car we want to know all about the running of the car, we want to know what condition the engine is in, how many owners has it had? Does it need oil or water or brake fluid? When is its service due? When does the tax run out? We want to know the amount of miles we get to a gallon of fuel. Over time we know everything about the car. But when it comes to the vehicle and engine of ourselves it’s a whole different story, we don’t know anything about the magnificent vessel we have to explore this planet with. The little we do know is not enough. What we don’t know we rely on other people to tell us and trust their diagnosis without doing our own research. Sometimes if we are very sick or our body becomes diseased in any way then we may stop and think about our body. At that point we may have a realisation. That time is often too late. Isn’t it funny, if we think we are going to die we are ready to do what needs to be done to stay alive but rarely are we willing to give our body’s the attention they need to function efficiently in our care free everyday lives.

I never drank the right quantity of water to hydrate my body for many years because I lacked the knowledge and understanding required to know the body. Over the past years I have become more and more interested in the body. I am not saying that is enough on its own because I still continued to abuse my body even after studying it in more depth. The knowledge itself won’t work if you genuinely don’t have self respect and implement the changes required.

If any of you know me you will know one of my professions has been a Personal trainer. I learned so much from those years about the body and people. I have met people that just do not drink water and I am sure you will meet people that have lived their whole life not really paying any attention to drinking water or believe there is a real benefit to it. Being hydrated gives you more energy. Releases stress. Gives you better concentration and aids in recovery time after training. Burns fat and a whole host of other benefits. Do your own research and test the results for yourself. My favourite diagnosis to most aches, pains and any other problems in general is “Drink some more water”!!

Do you truly know what waters role is in your body? Do you just drink it because you have heard so many people say it or have you read it somewhere numerous times?

What Water does in the Body – Some small amazing Facts we should all know: “That’s every human born“.

About three-fourths of the body is water:
Red blood cells = 65% water.
White blood cells = 70%.
General body cells – 80%.
Protoplasm = 75%.
Saliva (about 3 pts, daily) = 99%.
Gastric juice (1-2 quarts daily) = 99%.
Skin perspiration (1-5 pts. daily) = 99%.
Kidneys use 1-2 quarts.
Brain is 85% water.
Nerves are 75% water
Heart is 75%
lungs are 75% water – Lungs use up to one quart daily.
Liver =70%
kidneys = 80%.

(A quart is a unit of volume or capacity, used in liquid measure, equal to 1/4 gallon or 32 ounces (0.946 liter).

Water is the body’s solvent; it is the habitat of all chemical activities in the body, which are many. Water is the medium of exchange of all life-giving supplies from one point to another until they reach the cells, and of all wastes from one point to another until they are removed by excretion. Without water, the blood could not move. (Lymphatic system)

Water is the lubricant of all moving parts. It is the regulator of body temperature. The body cells are “water-cooled!” Violent exercise continued for 26 minutes would generate enough heat to coagulate the albuminous substances in the body–similar to cooking the white of an egg– unless this heat was promptly released. The cells are surrounded by water and thus are “water–cooled!”

(al•bu•min = A class of simple, water-soluble proteins that can be coagulated by heat and are found in egg white, blood serum, milk, and many other animal and plant tissues. Also called albumen).

When there is a deficiency of water in the body the process of elimination will continue, but to do so the blood and tissues will be robbed of some of their water content. This will hinder their normal procedures. If this continues, it may lower blood pressure. Headaches, tiredness, and other conditions may result. Constipation may develop. Kidneys, lungs and pores will be hindered in eliminating waste from the body and so the wastes will accumulate all the way back to each cell, and the inside of the body becomes like a stagnated pool.

If somebody loses all of the stored glycogen (blood sugar) in their body, all of the reserves of fat, and even half the body protein, their life is not in danger.
BUT 10% loss of the body’s water is serious, and a loss of 20-22% of the body’s water is fatal. A person deprived of water will die in 60 to 80 hours.

I recently heard a story of a man called Pablo Valencia. In 1906 he embarked on a journey from Mexico to California in search of gold. He survived for seven days without water. 7 days. He was rescued and then documented the experience of thirst. He said –
Saliva becomes thick.
A lump seems to form in the throat.
The tongue swells so large that it squeezes past the jaws.
The throat is so swollen that breathing becomes difficult creating a terrifying sense of drowning.
The face feels full and tight due to the shrinking of the skin.
You experience hallucinations.
The eyelids crack.
The eyeballs begin to weep tears of blood.
When Pablo was found his skin was like purple, grey leather. Scratched but with no traces of blood. His lips had disappeared as if they were amputated, his nose had withered to half the size and his eyes were fixed open and trapped in a wink less stare.

It is important to supply the body with at least 8 glasses of pure water a day. Not mixed with juices or teas.

A few natural remedies water has.
Fevers -Cold compress or rags to the forehead relieves; Luke warm bath; cool enema;
Drinking water releases stress:
Muscles sore – use very cold compresses
Headaches – try walking in a bath tub with 2 inches of cold water; this causes the blood to flow from the feet and then headache gone!!

If you have enjoyed understanding a little more about the water and your body’s uses then I recommend a great book – “Your body’s many cries for water” by Dr F Batmanghelidj Here is the link – http://tinyurl.com/ygf4flc

I have also just seen two amazing documentaries about water and the results of it becomming a comodity. Take a look if this interests you – www.flowthefilm.com and www.bluegold-worldwaterwars.com

I hope you’ve enjoyed your stay. This is the first post about connecting the basic functions of the body and the deeper effects they can have on you when you understand the engine of your vessel.

Have a great day.
